-Skills: Special ability ina task, sport...
-Knowledge: The facts, feelings or experiences known by a person o group of people.
-Catwalk: A narrow ramp extending from the stage into the audience in a theatre, nightclub, ect, esp as used by models in a fashion show.

Glossary (Unit III)

-Lifeguards: A person present at a beach or pool to guard people against the risk or drowning.
-Nurses: A person who tends the sick, injured or infirm.
-Surgeons: A medical practioner who specializes in surgery.
-Childminders: A person who looks  after children, esp those whose parents are working.
-Retail: The sale of goods individually or in small quantities to consumers.
-Diving: To plunge headfirst into water.

Geography (Unit III)

-Cultural diversity: The quality of diverse or different cultures.
-Executive: One of three branches of the state with responsibility for executing laws, setting state policy and managing public affairs.
-Globalisation: The integration and development of a worlwide economic system.
-Homogenisation: The act of making something uniform in composition
-Mass culture: A worldwide culture characterised by similar patterns of consumption.
-Sovereignty: The authority to rule over and area. In a democracy, the people have sovereignty because they vote for the government.
-State: The supreme public power within a sovereign political entity.
-Supranational: Beyond the authority of one national government.
-UN:  A supranational organisation composed of over 190 member states. It was founded in 1945 to promote peace, security and economic development.
-Universal suffrage: A system of democratic elections whereby all citizens of voting age can participate regardless of their gender or economic situation.

Physical education glossary (Unit I)

-Wall bars: A series of horizontal bars attached to a wall and used in gymnastics.
-To kneel:To rest, fall, or support oneself on one's knees. 
-To dodge:  To avoid or attempt to avoid as by moving suddenly.
-To tag: A piece or strip of paper or something like that, for attaching to something by one end as a mark or label.
-To cheat: To deceive or practise deceit, esp for one's own gain: trick or swindle.
-To chase: To follow or run after.
-To strike:  To deliever (a blow or stroke) to (a person).
-Brief: Short in duration.
-Fit: To be appropiate or suitable for (a situation, etc).
-To enable: To provide (someone) with adequate power, means, opportunity, or authority (to do something).
-Winger: A player stationed on the wing.

A great day in New York

Last year, in New York, there was a special day about environment. Some participants, from teenagers to ald people, picked up all the rubbish that there was in the long streets of this city. As you know, New York is very big, so there was many pollution and so much rubbish. Then, they didn't use cars because they wanted to be more ecological. At the end of the day some parks were cleaned, there was less traffic in the estreets, the air was pure and the most important thing: They got that New York was a green city per one day.

10 reasons to be more ecological

1. Use natural light instead of artificial light.
2. Throw the rubbish in the correct container.
3. Take a shower instead of a bath. If you do this, you don't spend too much water.
4. You must put in practice the three ''R''.
5. You can reduce the consume of  sprays,they pollute a lot.
6. While you are brushing your teeth, turn of the tap.
7. You can throw the organic food into the rubbish bin.
8. One good action is to use the public transport instead of the car.
9. You can use recycling bulbs.
10. Don't pollute the environment of the animals.

Geography (unit II)

-Temperature: The mildst of the Earth's three climate zones. It is moderate and it have precipitations.
-Oasis: A small area in a desert with water and vegetation.
-Precipitation: A form of water that falls to the Earth's surface.
-Settlement: A place whee people have gone to live and where no or few people lived before.
-Livestock: Domestic animals raised on farms.
-Scrub: Low trees o shrubs that grow in areas with little rain.
-Holm oak: It's a type of tree.
-Logging:  The work of felling trees and transporting the logs for sale.
-Deforestation:  Is the removal of a forest or stand of trees where the land is thereafter converted to a non-forest use.
-Savannah; A flat grassland in tropical or subtropical regions.
.Taiga:  The forests located in the Earth's
-Tundra: The vast, treeless area in the Artic regions with low-growing vegetation such as lichens and mosses.
-Jungle: An area with lush vegetation and high rainfall with and equatorial climate.
-Desert: And area f land that receives less than 250 mm of rain per year. Deserts can be hot, cold or polar. 
-Steppe: A grassy plain usually without trees
-Deciduous: A type of tree that loses all of its leaves in autumm.
-Evergreen forest:  Is a forest consisting entirely or mainly of evergreen trees.
-Meadwos: An area of grassland.

Geography (unit I)

-Inlet:  A thin channel of water that leads inland from the sea.
-Headland: A small area ofland that projects out into the sea.
-Peninsula: A large scale headland surrounded by water n three sides. A peninsula can be connected to the land by a thin strech of land called an isthmus.
-Island: A piece of land completely surrounded by water. A group of related islands close together form an archipielago.
-Gulf: An area of sea surrounded byland on three sides. It forms the shape of an arc. 
-Bay: Is like a gulf but generally smaller.
.Oceanic ridge: An underwater mountain range that generally covers a large area and reaches high altitudes.
-Oceanic trench: A long depression on the ocean floor that can be thousands of metres deep.
-Abyssal plain: A flat area of the ocean floor. They are found at depths of between 3000 and 7000 metres.
-Continental shelf: The undersea extension of a continent that descends gradually to depths of around 400 metres.The shelf might extend for only a few kilometres under the sea, or it may extend for many.
-Continental slope: A steep underwater area that links the continental shelf with the ocean floor.
-Mountain: A large landform that is higher than the surrounding land.
-Mountain range: Is a continuous chain of mountais.
-Basin: An area of land that is drained by a river or a lake and that is lower than the surrounding sea.
-Valley: A valley is a linear depression in the land. A river valley is V-shaped due to the action of a river running throught it. Glacial valleys are U-shaped because they have been formed by a moving glacier.
-Plateau: A flat area of land which sits at a certain altitude above sea level.
-Plain: A large, open, flat or slightly undulating area of land.
-Geographical feature:  Are all the components of the Earth.
-Cape: is a headland of large size extending into the water.
-Massif: Alarge mountain compact group of connected mountains.
-Isthmus: Is a thin strip of land connecting two land masses.
-Relief: The difference in height in vast area.
-Continent:  Is one of several very large landmasses on Earth (Europe, Asia, Africa, America, Oceania, Antartica).
-Peninsula:  Is an unusual land formation.
-River basin: The land area drained by a river.
-Coast: Is the edge of the land that is met by the waters edge.





Curitiba

The people who live in Curitiba have a particular form to recycle. There are many things like the Tvs. the radios, the computers or something like that in the rubbish. So, the people buy this things (obviously if they can use them) and then they receive food. It means that if they ''buy rubbish'' they win food. This form of recycle has a particular name...''The rubbish that is not rubbish''.

The cheese

This delicious food is from the period of the romans. The legend tells that an asiatic person discovered the cheese while he did a log travel around the desert. He puts milk in a bowt and when he went to drink it, the milk was frozen. He couldn't drink the milk, so he had to eat it. The thought that this new aliment was delicious. Then, all the romans ate cheese. And now almost ll the people eat ''freeze milk''. 

GLOSSARY

-To take the bull by the horns: Means to deal with a difficult situation in a brave and firm way.
-Two heads are better than one: Means that when two people work together the are more likely to salve a problem that one person doing alone.
-To keep your head above water: Means you are just managing to survive despite not, having much money.
-It's as easy as pie: When something is very easy.
-Pie-eyed: If someone is very drunk.
-To have a finger in many pies: If someone have a lot of activities.
-A bad egg: In english if we want to say that someone is bad or dishonest we call him a bad egg.
-Don't pull all your eggs in one basket: You should never rely on one plan in case it goes wrong.
-He got eggs on his face: If someone makes a mistake which makes him/her look stupid, we can say this expression.
-Breaking point: It's when you need help because someone say to you bad things.
-Dropped (weight): Lost weight.
-Purning: To make yourself vomit.
-Compulsively: When you do something all the time.
-Long (short) term effects: The things that happens after purning.
-Follow in you footsteps: Want to be like other person.
-Full of beans: If someone is full of beans means that he/she is full of energy.
-I haven't  a beans: If someone haven't got money at all.
-Spill the beans: If we want to tell us something secret,we can say to them ''Spill the beans''.
-It's a hot potato: If you have an delicate issue and people can't agree we call it ''a hot potato''.
-They're like to peas in a pod: If two people look very similar.
-It's not my cup of tea: In English if there's something we don't like much.
-I wouldn't do it for all the tea in China: We use this expression if there's something we would never do it.
-It's as good as a chocolate teapot: In English if something is completely useless we can say this expression.
-Useless: Stupid.
-He's gone bananas:  In English if someone is very emotional and starts shouting and behaving in a crazy way we can say this expression.
-It's a case of souR grapes: In English if somebody pretends not to be impressed by something  because he/she feels jealous we use this expression.
-A second bite of the cherry:  In English if we try to do something a second time because we failed at first, we can use this expression.
-To be in a good mood: To be happy.
-Chairperson: The person who control the debate.
-Adjudicator: The person who decides who wins the debate.
-There are pleanty more fish in the sea: It means that there are other choices in a situation. It's often said to confort someone who had a romantic break-up.
-The icing one the cake: It's to refer to something good which is added to an already good thing or situation.
-It's just not cricket: Is used in English to say that something in unfair or dishonest.
-To toy with somebody/something:  Means not to take someone's feeling seriously.
-A toyboy: Is the younger boyfriend of an older person.
-Like a ton of bricks:  It is used to express something that is very heavy. This expression can be used literally (to describe a heavy weight) or idiomatically (To describe  great surprise or someone that is overweight)
-To fly the nest: Means to leave your parent's home for the first time to go and live somewhere else

-A nest egg: Is an amount of money you haved saved in the future.
-I wasn't born yesterday: Is someone is telling you a very obvious lie, you can use this expression.
-To have a whale of a time:  Means to have a lot ot fun while doing something.
-Size of a whale: It's an impolite way of saving they are large and overweight.
-The big cheese: Is the most important or powerful person in a group or organization.
-Chalk and cheese: We use this expression to define two people who are very different to each other.
-A little bir told me: If you have some information but you do not want to reveal who told you, then you use this expression.
-To be or to have a big mouth:  It means that you talk too much especially about things which should be kept in secret or avoided.
-All the colours of the rainbow: It means it is very colourful.
-Chasing rainbows:  Refers to someone who is always looking for something more exciting and rewanding but is unlikely to find it.
-If you are playing with fire: You are doing something which could be dangerous.
-If you add fuel to the fire:  It means you make a bad situation even worse.
-If you have a flash of inspiration: It means that you get a sudden idea that helps you create or archieve what you were doing hoping to do.
-A big fish in a small pond: If we describe someone with this expression it means that he/she is very important or have a lot of influence but only in a small area or group.
-Coldfish: If someone is described with this expression it means that he/she is unfriendly and doesn't show his/her feelings or emotionals.
-Geneticaly engineered: This food hasn't got a change in their composition.
-Geneticaly modified: This food has a change in their composition.
-Geneticaly modified organisel: Like GM. this food has a change.
-Packed like sardines: To describe people in a very crowded space.
-Like a duck to water: It means that you discover, when you start doing a new activity, that you are very good.
-If you blow your own trumpet: you one boasting about your achievements and abilities.
-If you have a bee in your bonet about something you are obssessed with it and can't stop thinking about it.
-It's in someone's genes when that person has the some personality traits as their parents, or does a similiar job.
-You scratch my back and i'll scratch yours:  means if you do something for me, i'll do something for you specially if it is something you would not have been able to do for yourself.
-If you say someone does not have a hair out of place: It means, their appearance is very, tidy or is perfect.

Welcome to my blog!

Hi guys! What's happening?
As the title says..welcome to my new blog! It's gonna be about my third year in the high school, all my works, my glossaries...Maybe it's gonna be funny because you can know how I work and what compositions i will do.
